Top 50 Hair Loss Treatments: #27 Nizoral Shampoo Ketoconazole 2%

#27 Nizoral Shampoo Ketoconazole 2%

Nizoral Shampoo is an imidazole antifungal. Ketoconazole belongs to the family of medications called antifungals, and it is used to treat fungal infections of the skin and nails. The shampoo is used to treat and prevent conditions such as dandruff and seborrheic dermatitis, and it can also play a key role in treating hair loss.  Ketoconazole works by preventing the fungus from making normal cell walls, thereby stopping fungal growth.

Ketoconazole can also be effective in stimulating new hair growth if you suffer from androgenetic alopecia. Androgenetic alopecia, also called male and female pattern baldness, is a frequent cause of hair loss in both men and women, although it is more common in men.

This potent shampoo is usually most effective when used in conjunction with a number of different treatments, such as supplements and topical serums.  Many male users in particular have experienced good results when using Nizoral shampoo with the Minoxidil treatment.

Nizoral has a main purpose of controlling dandruff.  Use of this medication may help to relieve the flaking, scaling and itching associated with dandruff.  This medication may cause abnormal hair texture, discolouration, irritation, or pimple-like bumps on the scalp.

There may also be oiliness or dryness of the hair and scalp. If any of these effects persist or worsen, notify your doctor or pharmacist promptly. If your doctor has directed you to use this medication, remember that he or she has judged that the benefit to you is greater than the risk of side effects.

Many people using this medication do not have serious side effects.

This popular shampoo is widely available for under £10, making it one of the most affordable products of its kind on the market, and although the risk of side-effects are relatively low, we rank Nizoral Shampoo Ketoconazole 2% at a very respectable 27 on our Top 50 Hair Loss Treatments list.
