5 Tips To Stop Baldness in the New Year

Stopping Baldness and Shedding This New Year

With a new year brings not only new resolutions, but also new hope. And when it comes to hair loss, many of us will be seeking solutions in order to halt the thinning process.

January is the month for hair loss, or so it seems, at least.  Google gets more hair loss related search terms during the first month of the year than any other time.  So, why are so many of us keen to do something about our balding problem at the turn of the new year?  Online behaviour analyst, James Bakerfield has his own theory as to why January is such a popular time for hair loss:

"We all seem to reflect as the new year approaches. We set ourselves objectives and resolutions, like losing weight and setting career goals. The same goes for our hair - after the fun and games of the festive season, there is an element of seriousness about January - and that's when many of start worrying about things like hair loss, so naturally we seek solutions."

So, with all that said, here are five key new year tips to help you put an end to thinning hair...

1.  Go easy on the hair products

Using a ton of hair treatments is a common mistake many of us make. When treating hair loss, you should really only be using one of two products at a time.  Using too many products at once becomes far too confusing, and it is harder to judge what products work and which ones don't.

2.  Eat plenty of 'hair foods'

You'll probably have a new year's diet set in place anyway, but be sure to get in plenty of nutrients that can benefit your hair.  Eating plenty of hair foods such as avocados, eggs, beans, broccoli, and fish can enhance the condition of your locks and pave the way for healthier growth.  Some foods can even help prevent hair loss, so make sure you know exactly what you're eating.

3.  Take the right minerals

Many of us lack the vital vitamins and minerals that are needed for us to maintain healthy, stronger growing strands, and that's where supplements come in.  Multi-vitamin hair supplements are the best form of 'treatment' for thinning hair, due to the fact they contain the vital minerals needed for healthier hair.  If you're struggling to get enough hair minerals into your diet from food alone, then be sure to invest in a decent multi-vitamin hair supplement.

4. Drink green tea

Green tea revitalises hair follicles and stimulates hair production. It also enhances your metabolism which ultimately leads to increased rate of hair growth. Just condition your hair with green tea solution and notice the change.  Also consider eating green apples - another source of minerals that are great for promoting healthy growth.

5. Don't shampoo every time you shower

Many of us tend to skip conditioner when showering, but it's actually shampoo that you should be skipping as much as possible. Here's why: The purpose of shampoo is to wash away dirt and product build-up, but it can also take essential natural oils that keep strands soft and healthy along with it. When you really do need shampoo, be gentler on your hair by only lathering up at your scalp and then simply letting the suds slide down strands, hitting the rest of the hair as the water rinses it away.
