5 Unusual Ways to Stop Baldness and Thinning Hair

Headstands stimulate hair growth

Derma rolling can activate hair cells 


Another big trend of late is derma rolling the scalp. The derma roller, a device used to puncture tiny holes in the skin, can help activate sleeping follicles, or so the theory goes.  Clinical research on using the derma roller for hair loss is there, and these devices are frequently recommended by industry experts. Research has shown that the derma roller is effective in helping to repair hair loss, by causing micro-injury to the skin, which triggers a wound-healing response.



Again, it's definitely worth a try, and you can purchase one of these devices for less than £10, so there's very little risk involved.  You'll never know its real effectiveness unless you try it and see for yourself.

Rinsing the hair with cold water can help hair grow


The theory: Rinsing your hair with cold water after your shower can help its growth and keep it healthier for longer, or so people say.  Cold water helps prevent moisture loss, blocks heat damage, thus generates better strand growth.



Cold water isn't nice during any time of the year, but fear not, you only need to do it for a few seconds. This technique will not work miracles, but it can definitely help prevent unnecessary shedding and breakage.  Again, it won't cost you a penny, and you've essentially got nothing to lose by trying it.


Massaging your scalp can prevent hair loss


You've probably heard about this theory, and apparently it's one of the more credible methods on this list. Massaging your scalp for just 15 minutes a day can actually help with the blood flow to the scalp, which in turn can stimulate the activity of hair cells.


For this simple tip, massage your scalp with the tips of your fingers in gentle circular motions, for 10-15 minutes per session. You could even use a massaging device that sends tiny vibrations through your skull.  Either way, this technique is not scientifically proven to treat hair loss, but it can certainly help benefit you if your baldness is caused by lack blood circulation to the scalp.


Mediating can benefit your hair


Stress is actually one of the most common causes of hair loss, and by reducing your stress levels, you can effectively minimise the amount of hair you are losing.  Meditating and yoga can help reduce stress, which in turn will benefit your strands. 


Just ten minutes of meditating per day can make a huge difference to the health of your strands, and what's more, it's absolutely free.  Many people found that by making subtle changes to their life, like meditating, eating well and being more active, actually benefited their hair.
