How To Manage Hair Loss During Coronavirus Quarantine (COVID-19)

In these strange times of uncertainty, it is more important than ever to look after yourself, your health, and of course, your hair.

With hair salons and barbers shutting down due to the coronavirus, more and more people are freaking out about their hair.  However, it's not just haircuts and styling that matters. For those of us who are battling hair loss daily, it is vitally important that we continue to receive and use the treatments available.

Many online sources like online health and beauty retailers, and certain pharmacies will be closing down over the coming weeks, which means our access to hair loss treatments will be cut off. And although our health should be the most important thing, there are still many people who will worry about their hair.

So, here, we go through a few simple things you can do to make sure you keep on top of your hair care routine, and remain on course to fight baldness and thinning hair.

Stock Up

The whole world seems to be stockpiling at the moment, which isn't necessarily a good thing.  However, stocking up on some key essentials should be a priority for you, particularly if you suffer from hair loss.

If you're using a treatment that requires daily usage, such as a supplement or a topical serum, then be sure to stock up for the next few months, minimum. With all the uncertainty about which online stores will remain open and which will be closing, you're best off being safe than sorry by stocking up on your treatments that will see you through your period of self-isolation.

Hair Care Routine

A good hair care routine is absolutely essential if you want to get the very best from your hair. You may have already settled on an effective hair care routine that has enabled you to minimise shedding and promote hair growth. If so, then great, stick with it.

However, if you haven't quite found a hair care routine that works, then now is the time to experiment with different treatments and schedules.

Eat Well

Eating well doesn't just benefit your body, it actually benefits your hair, too. Be sure to eat lots of high-protein foods like fish, eggs, and lentils. The hair thrives on protein, and it can help strengthen the hair and help t grow stronger.

Try and cut out unhealthy foods that are high in sugar. It's unlikely you'll get to be as active, being stuck indoors for the majority of your time, so make sure you lower your carbs intake (not completely) and increase your protein intake.

Be Active

Again, the healthier you keep your body, the better condition your hair will be in to grow. It's not going to be easy to exercise, especially if you do not have a garden on an open outdoor space, but there are plenty of things you can do in and around your home that will get you fitter.

Go online, find some personal trainers on YouTube, and pick a few indoor exercise plans. The healthier you are, the healthier all aspects of your body will be, including your locks.

Take Vitamins

We stress this point time and time again. Taking vitamins should be a daily part of not only your hair care routine, but also for your overall health.  We cannot get all the vital nutrients and minerals needed in our diet through food alone, and that's why supplements are so important.

Multi-vitamin hair supplements are packed with specific ingredients that target the hair. Many are designed to help prevent thinning, and support healthy hair growth. If you haven't already got yourself some, be sure to purchase some. Viviscal and HR23+ are among the leading multi-vitamin hair supplements on the market.
