Hair Loss Success Story: How I Stopped Hair Loss

By K. Khan

I am still only 43, but hair loss has always been something that has bothered me, even from a very young age. I didn't start losing my hair until I was about 28 years old, but judging by my father's hairline, and his father's hairline, I kind of knew it was only a matter of time until I'd have some problems with hair loss.

Around 65 percent of men experience some form of hair loss by the age of 40, with the main cause being male pattern baldness (androgenic alopecia). Like most guys, I started experiencing male pattern baldness in my mid to late 20s.

Male pattern baldness can be quite aggressive, and fast. Some guys lose all their hair within five years, and others even sooner. My father started losing his hair when he was in his late 20s, and by his late 30s, he was almost completely bald.

It's been 15 years since I started experiencing hair loss, and now, in my 40s, I am happy to say that I have managed to retain most of my hair, and this is due to a good hair care routine, as well as a consistent treatment plan.

So, here, I'll take you through my simple but effective plan (with treatments) that has enabled me to stop hair loss, and maintain my hair. Here are 5 key tips that worked for me...

1. Act Early

Having researched the subject thoroughly, I knew that if I wanted to keep my hair, I'd have to act early, and so that is exactly what I did, right from the very start.

The earlier you act, the more chance you will have of holding onto your locks for longer. As soon as I started noticing hair loss, I researched treatments, spoke to a trichologist, and looked into general things I could do to try to combat hair loss.

2. Hair Care Routine

Developing a good hair care routine can help slow down excessive hair shedding. Simple things like not over washing your hair, using chemical-free shampoos, and easing up on heat styling devices like hairdryers, can go a long way in preventing unnecessary hair fall.

Also, be consistent with your hair care routine, week to week. The more consistent you are with your hair, the better chance you have of hair loss prevention.

3. Hair Loss Treatments

Assembling the right range of hair loss treatments, and sticking to them, will enable you to hold onto your locks for longer. Be warned, though, because finding the right hair loss treatments that work for you, individually, can be a tough task in itself.

It took me a fair amount of time, through trial and error, to settle on hair loss treatments that actually worked for me. When it comes to treating hair loss, the effectiveness of treatments will vary from person to person, so be sure to stick with it, until you find a good treatment(s) that works for you.

The treatments that I use to combat hair loss are:

  • Minoxidil - I use Regaine foam just once a day. They tell you to use it twice, daily, but I find that using it just once, before I go to bed, is enough to slow down the shedding. It also helps save money by using it once a day, rather than twice.
  • HR23+® Hair Restoration Supplement - I have been taking HR23+® supplement since it came to market in 2015, and it has worked absolute wonders for my hair. It's stopped the hair fall, and helped me maintain strong, healthy hair growth. I take HR23+® daily.
  • Nizoral - I use ketoconazole shampoo, in the form of Nizoral, about once a week, to help combat hair loss. For the more regular washes, I use a Biotin & Collagen shampoo.

4. Don't Give up

Far too many guys tend to give up on their hair, mainly through laziness. A few of my friends gave up on trying to combat hair loss, and they've all, as a consequence, lost the majority of their hair.

I have no sympathy for anyone who gives up on trying to fight hair loss, through being lazy. I have spent a lot of time, effort and determination trying to combat hair loss, and so I believe, like with anything in life, the harder you work on something, the better the result will be.

5. Lifestyle

A good lifestyle does not cure hair loss, but a poor lifestyle can cause hair loss. Like with anything in life, the better you treat your body, the better it will thrive.

Your hair is no different to any other part of your body - if you feed your body with healthy nutrients, lots of protein, and cut down on th3e junk food, it can only help your hair. That also goes for being active, and getting plenty of exercise.
