Is it possible to regrow lost hair?
Question from Andy Turnip.
I am 43 and I have started noticing my hair falling out. I am currently seeking treatments that will hopefully minimise and even stop the rate of hair fall.
My question is this: Can I regrow the hair that has been lost? I mean, is it actually possible to regrow lost hair, without surgical intervention, or am I only able to minimise the thinning?
Androgenic alopecia (male/female pattern baldness) is by far the most common cause of hair loss in men and women. The problem is, there is no cure for this soul-sapping condition, so to physically regrow hair is by no means an easy task. However, that's not to say its not possible, or at least to a certain extent.

If a hair follicle has closed, disappeared, or not generated a new hair in years, then a new hair wouldn't be able to grow, but if the follicle is still intact, then yes, it is possible to regrow the hair - or to improve the health of the existing thinner hairs.
So, it really does depend on what state your hair follicle is in. This is why, if you are looking to avoid surgical procedures like hair transplants, then you should act as early as possible in order to stop the hair fall. The earlier you act, the more chance that your hair follicles will still be active.
The medical topical solution, minoxidil, can help regrow hair, to a certain extent. That's only if the hair follicle hasn't closed. As long as the hair follicle is still active, then hair regrowth can be achieved.
Even a good multivitamin hair supplement, like HR23+, can help slow down excessive hair shedding, and promote the function of healthy hair growth.
