The best hairstyles that make your receding hairline look good

Unfortunately. hair loss is something that most men go through by the time they reach middle age. There isn't a cure for any type of hair loss, but there are treatments that can help reduce the rate of shedding, and support the growth of hair.

Hair loss in men usually occurs in one of two patterns. Some men experience diffuse thinning at the top of the scalp, particularly at the crown region, which spreads and eventually leads to baldness. But most men tend to start receding at the hairline, which causes a widows peak.

For many men, the receding can be a slow process. Some men start receding early in life, but manage to hold onto their hair for a long period of time. Some men prefer to hide or cover their receding hairline, and others prefer to work their hairstyle around it.

Here, we look at some great hairstyles that enhance the receding hairline, based on your face shape, hair type, and overall look...

The brushed back look

If you've got quite a chiselled looking face, or a longer shaped face, then brushing your hair back, showing off the hairline, could actually work well.  Hollywood star, Henry Cavill (above) pulls off this hairstyle well.

Sometimes, by showing off your recession, it makes you look confident, and perfectly secure in yourself. It also looks pretty damn cool, if you've got the face for it.

The fringe

If you're not keen on the brushed back look, then you can always do the opposite by brushing your hair forward. This can be a trendy look, which helps cover the receding hairline, and lower the size of your forehead.

If you're going for this look, then be sure to keep the sides very short. This gives the illusion that your hair at the top is thicker. David Beckham (above) pulled off this look in style.

The cropped look

If you're not so bothered about hiding your hairline, or styling your hair around it, then you can always crop your hair very short, which, in itself, can take away the fact that your hairline is receding.

By clippering your hair short on the sides, and leaving it a little longer up top, it will give the illusion that you've got more hair than you actually have. It also looks tidy, masculine, and on trend.

The comb over

If your hair has still got some pretty decent density, then the comb over hairstyle might just be for you. By brushing your hair to one side, it can help cover the receding hairline, and make the hair look fuller and more textured.

Enrique Iglesias (above) has been styling his hair like this for many years, in an attempt to cover his receding hairline. And to be fair to him, it looks pretty good.

The Jude Law look

Jude Law (above) has the most iconic receding hairline in Hollywood, and one of the great things about it is that he never tries to hide it. Jude has always styled his hair in the most natural way, with his hairline on show, for all to see.

If you are confident and secure enough to try it, then simply let your hairstyle look as natural as it can be. Rough it up a tad, and show the world that you're more than confident in yourself and in your receding hairline - that's an attractive trait in itself.

How to stop a receding hairline?

There's no cure for hair loss, but there are treatments on the market that can help slow down and stop the excessive shedding, and support the function of healthy hair growth.

The most common treatments are finasteride, minoxidil, HR23+, keratinocyte growth factor, and ketoconazole. Micro needling, PRP, low light laser therapy, and hair transplantation procedures are also growing in popularity.  Results vary from person to person.
