A new derma roller for treating hair loss

Leading hair loss brand HR23+ continue to branch out into new and exciting avenues, and after the successful release of their anti hair loss shampoo, recently, the company are now setting their sights on developing a highly effective micro-needling device.

A new derma roller is set for release in the near future, which, according to research, works particularly well when used in conjunction with a potent topical solution such as minoxidil or HR23+'s keratinocyte growth factor (KGF) serum.

So, what exactly is this new product, and how does it treat hair loss? Here's everything you need to know about this highly anticipated micro-needling product.

What is a derma roller?

A derma roller, also known as a microneedle roller, is a small handheld device with tiny needles that are rolled over the skin to create small micro-injuries. While derma rollers are commonly used for skin-related concerns, some people have also explored their potential use for hair loss treatment.

Here's how a derma roller may be used to treat hair loss:

Enhanced Product Absorption

One of the primary ways derma rollers may help with hair loss is by improving the absorption of topical hair growth products. When you roll the derma roller over your scalp, it creates tiny channels or micro-injuries in the skin. These micro-injuries can temporarily increase the permeability of the skin, allowing hair growth products such as minoxidil or topical serums to penetrate deeper into the scalp and reach the hair follicles more effectively.

Improved Blood Circulation

Derma rolling can stimulate blood circulation in the scalp. Better blood flow can provide more nutrients and oxygen to the hair follicles, promoting hair growth. It may also help remove toxins and waste products from the scalp, which can be beneficial for overall hair health.

Activation of Hair Follicles

Some proponents of derma rolling believe that the micro-injuries created by the device can stimulate dormant or weakened hair follicles to become active again. This may lead to the growth of thicker, healthier hair.

Here are some important considerations when using a derma roller for hair loss:

Needle Length

The needle length of the derma roller is crucial. For hair loss treatment, shorter needles (0.25mm to 0.5mm) are generally recommended to avoid excessive pain or injury to the scalp. Longer needles may be used by professionals in clinical settings, but they should not be used at home without proper guidance.

HR23+ in planning on releasing three needle length derma-rollers, at 0.5mm, 1.0mm, and 1.5mm. Patients can opt for the needle length that matches their requirements.

Hygiene

Ensure that the derma roller is clean and sanitised before each use to prevent infection or skin irritation. A sanitiser is good to use, or even an alcoholic spirit would suffice.

Frequency

The frequency of derma rolling sessions depends on the individual and the specific protocol they are following. It's important not to overdo it, as excessive derma rolling can lead to scalp irritation and damage.  For derma-rolling once a week, a 1.0mm would be fine. For once every 2-3 weeks, a 1.5mm would do the job.

Consult a Professional

Before using a derma roller for hair loss, it's a good idea to consult with a dermatologist or healthcare professional. They can assess your specific hair loss condition and recommend an appropriate treatment plan.

It's important to note that while some people may experience positive results from using a derma roller for hair loss, the effectiveness can vary from person to person. Hair loss can have various underlying causes, and derma rolling may not be a standalone solution for everyone. It's often used in conjunction with other treatments and lifestyle changes for better results.

About the HR23+ Derma Roller

HR23+ are set on developing a highly effective derma roller that targets the issue at the very root. A spokesman from the brand said:

"We are looking to develop a derma roller than stands out from the rest, both in performance and in style. We are carefully considering every aspect of this micro-needling device, from the length and formation of the needles, to the shape and style of the roller and handle, and the ease at which it can be cleaned. Micro needling for treating hair loss is growing in popularity, which is why we see it as a natural step to add a derma roller to our existing line of products."

The newly developed derma roller will become the fifth product to enter HR23+'s line of treatments. It will follow their leading hair restoration supplement, the KGF serum, the scalp therapy cream, and the anti hair loss shampoo.
