There are a number of products on the market that can do more damage to your hair than good. In a market clogged up with all kinds of products containing varying types of ingredients, it really is difficult to keep up. All we really want is to find a good treatment that halts the hair loss process and encourages healthy hair growth. So, to help you on your journey, here are five products that can cause hair loss, that you should avoid.

1 Testosterone Injection

Many young men use testosterone to help them gain muscle mass, but besides the fact enhanced levels testosterone puts you at risk of serious side-effects, it also promotes the pattern of baldness. If you value your hair then you should avoid testosterone injections at all costs!

2 Testosterone Supplement

Some men think it's safer to take testosterone in supplement form, and although it isn't quite as potent as injecting, the end result is still pretty much the same. Dramatically increasing your testosterone levels will put you at severe risk of premature hair loss. Your best alternative is using high protein supplements.

3 Quaternium-15

Johnson & Johnson’s “No More Tears” baby shampoo recently removed Quaternium-15 (a formaldehyde-releasing preservative) from its ingredients. According to Dr. Dorin, “Formaldehyde and parabens such as methylparaben and propylparaben are often included to prolong shelf life. The latter can affect hormonal balance and encourage hair loss.”

4 Finasteride (Propecia)

Yes, finasteride can indeed stop hair loss, but the side-effects can also be extremely severe. Anything that alters your hormones should be avoided at all costs. There are plenty of safe and natural ingredients and products to try.

5 YUDA

If it's from China then it's best to give it a miss! YUDA 'Hair Growth' Spray is a product that's been knocking about for quite a few years now. We suspect that, all these hair growth spray bottles are merely the same product with different labels. It's hard to trust what exactly is inside these types of products, so it's best to just avoid them.
