Testosterone = Premature Baldness

Does Increased Testosterone Cause Baldness?

It is no secret that testosterone does indeed cause hair loss, so people who use anabolic steroids or other testosterone based supplements, put themselves at risk of premature baldness if they are already genetically prone to male pattern baldness. The most commonly found demographic who use testosterone are men who participate in body building, as they tend to use testosterone as a treatment for quicker muscle enhancement.

The FDA has given specific warnings about the use of testosterone and other anabolic steroids. These warnings include severe cases of hair loss, heart complications, increased risk of strokes, depression, aggressive behaviour, liver complications, and infertility. Anabolic steroids help increase the levels of testosterone in the system, but anything that disturbs our hormones should be taken with caution. Our hormones are delicate links in our system, and if you mess around with them too much, the consequences can be severe.

Male users of testosterone enhancers will often experience unwanted symptoms such as depression, fatigue, irritability, loss of appetite, decreased libido, and sleep problems. What many of these users fail to understand is that a dramatic increase in testosterone will often result in the loss of hair.

You will often find many hair health supplements that work to block the formation of excessive testosterone levels, therefore encouraging the rate of hair growth and halting the rate of hair fall. There are ingredients and extracts that can lower the levels of testosterone in the system, such as saw palmetto - but you should always make sure you are taking the recommended daily dosage for a plant like saw palmetto, as it does have the capacity to affect your hormones if the daily dosage is exceeded.

If you are using testosterone based supplements or serums, then speak to your doctor and get the right advice to keep you safe.
