Top 50 Hair Loss Treatments: #22 Nanogen Nanofibres

#22 Nanogen Nanofibres

What are Nanogen Nanofibres?

Nanofibres is a shake-on hair loss concealer product from Nanogen, a formulation of pure keratin fibres that have been precision cut by a laser to microscopic dimensions. After cutting, the fibres are dyed and coated to enhance the retention of electrostatic charge. The dried fibres are then packed into containers made from a polymer that stimulates static charging of the fibres whenever the container is shaken.

How does it work?

The fibres are distributed over the hair using an applicator that looks similar to a salt or pepper shaker. The static charge of the fibres makes them cling to the hair where they swell, giving the appearance of thicker, fuller hair.

Are Nanogen Nanofibres any good?

Consumer reviews of Nanogen products are difficult to find, however we've seen the promotional videos and the results appear to be pretty effective. You can view their YouTube video here. Note however that as with DermMatch, Nanogen Nanofibres is a temporary concealer, and therefore does not offer a permanent solution hair loss. The product requires that you have a certain amount of hair, so if you continue to lose yours, you’ll soon be unable to use Nanofibres.

Are there any side effects?

Aside from the occasional allergic reaction, Nanogen Nanofibres does not cause any side effects that we are aware of.

What does it cost?

Nanofibres costs around £20 GBP for a months supply (approx $32 USD). The manufacturer also claims that if you buy another product called Nanogen Locking Mist, the fibres will be protected against wind, perspiration and light rain. Locking Mist costs around £9 GBP for a months supply (approx $14 USD). This equals a total cost of around £29 GBP per month (approx $46 USD). It is important to note that how long each purchase of Nanogen Nanofibres or Locking Mist lasts can vary depending on the extent of hair loss of the individual.
