You'd Never Guess These Celebrities Are Going Bald

Celebs who try to hide their hair loss...

Androgenetic alopecia, which is more commonly known as male pattern baldness, causes more than 95% of hair loss in men. 65% of guys will suffer from some stage of hair loss by the age of 40.

Hair loss is caused when testosterone converts to a hair-thinning hormone called DHT. But it gets worse: a full 85% of men will have significant thinning by age 50. And that's a tough coincidence for some of the biggest celebs on the planet.

In this article, we go through some male celebrities who you'd never have guessed are balding, and we'll reveal how we think they treat their baldness.

Ben Affleck
Hair Loss stage: Norwood 2-3.
Treatment: Hair Transplant

Hollywood actor, Ben Affleck had a relatively high hairline back in his younger years, but after some receding at the temples, it is clear he has had a hairline transplant.

Because Ben's recession wasn't aggressive, and his hair loss was at the early stages, his hairline fill would have been a relatively simple procedure.

Enrique Iglesias
Hair Loss stage: Norwood 3-4.
Treatment: Hair Piece/Hair System

The Latin-American pop star has had a long history of thinning. Look back to his early 20s, and it's clear to see aggressive recession at the frontal hairline.

It's hard to say whether Enrique has had hair surgery, because he never shows his hairline, however, the likeliness is that he wears a hair piece (wig), such is the look and texture of his strands. It's even likely he could be using a hair system.

David Beckham
Hair Loss stage: Norwood 2-3.
Treatment: Hair Transplant/Hair Fibres

David Beckham has always had wonderful locks, but as he entered his 40s, it was quite evident he was starting to thin.

We would suspect that Becks has had a hair transplant, coupled with hair building fibres, in order to give his hair a fuller look.

Machine Gun Kelly
Hair Loss stage: Norwood 2-3.
Treatment: Hair Transplant

MGK has clearly had a hair transplant, mainly around the frontal hairline. He was thinning quite severely in his 20s, but since his transplant, he now sports a much lower hairline, and thicker hair.

Matthew McConaughey
Hair Loss stage: Norwood 3-4.
Treatment: Hair System

You'll struggle to believe this, but yes, Matthew McConaughey is using a hair system, in our humble opinion. Some hair systems can be incredibly realistic, and it would appear Matthew is using one, based on his hairline and hair texture.
Ashton Kutcher
Hair Loss stage: Norwood 2-3.
Treatment: Dutasteride

Ashton Kutcher himself has admitted to taking Dutasteride (a similar prescription drug to Finasteride) for his thinning locks.

Dutasteride does not regrow hair, but it can stop hair loss. Kutcher started taking it in his 20s, when he noticed early signs of thinning. This has enabled him to keep his hair right through to his 40s.

James Franco
Hair Loss stage: Norwood 2-3.
Treatment: Hair Transplant

James Franco was showing clear signs of thinning and receding, but these days he is sporting a much stronger, lower hairline.

A simple hair transplant would have solved that issue. It appears Franco has gone for a hairline fill, mainly, with perhaps some additional filling around the crown area of the scalp.
Harry Styles
Hair Loss stage: Norwood 2.
Treatment: Finasteride

Singing sensation, Harry Styles, has had a receding hairline since his One Direction days, but not to a severe extent. Still only in his 20s, you'd expect the recession and thinning to worsen. Therefore, we expect he's probably taking Finasteride, in order to slow down the shedding.

Justin Bieber
Hair Loss stage: Norwood 3.
Treatment: Hair Transplant

Justin is another young man who suffers from thinning hair. In recent years, Bieber's locks have become thinner, and he's been wearing hats a lot more. If he hasn't already, we'd expect Justin to have hair surgery. That would be the best solution, as he seems too far gone to take Finasteride.

George Clooney
Hair Loss stage: Norwood 2.
Treatment: Hair Transplant

Yes, we kid you not, even Mr. Perfect himself, George Clooney, has shown clear signs of slight recession at the front of his hairline. This would have been countered with a minor hairline transplant, which looks natural.
