Is Roger Federer Going Bald?

Which tennis players are losing their hair?

Roger Federer is one of the greatest athletes that has ever been, but for all his greatness, his hair has proven to be his one weakness.

Playing professional tennis into his 40s, it seems that Roger's locks are the only part of his body that have failed to regenerate. But hey, no one's perfect, right?

As Roger Federer steps away from playing tennis, we look at his hairline, along with his tennis rivals, and evaluate what stage of hair loss (if any) they are at.

Roger Federer

Arguably the greatest ever person to play tennis, Roger Federer has been showing clear signs of hair loss over the past decade, or so. Roger seems to suffer from a receding hairline at the front temples, measuring around Norwood Hamilton 2-3.

Now in his 40s, Roger's hair doesn't actually look too bad. If he can maintain the hair he has already got, then he should age well as he enters his 50s and beyond. Minoxidil and HR23+ are good hair loss preventers that should help him slow down the shedding.

Rafael Nadal

Clay court king, Rafael Nadal, has also suffered from thinning hair over the past decade. Rafa's hair has got progressively thinner, with overall thinning, rather than just one area of the scalp.

There is no doubt that Rafa's baldness has now exceeded Norwood Hamilton 4, which makes it very difficult to restore the hair. Although Rafa has had a transplant, it seems that his thinning is too aggressive to stop. It is inevitable that the Spanish superstar will lose all his hair at some point soon.

Novak Djokovic

Serbian legend, Novak Djokovic, doesn't appear to have any problems with his hair, and it looks as though he will have just as much of it in his 60s, as he does today.

Novak's hairline is so thick and strong that he wouldn't even register a measurement on the Norwood Hamilton scale. He's just blessed with great genes!

Andy Murray

British player, Andy Murray, is another one of the 'Big 4' to suffer from male pattern baldness. Murray's hair has been getting progressively thinning since his late 20s, with recession at the frontal hairline, and thinning at the crown region of his scalp.

Murray is not at Norwood Hamilton 3-4, which means treating the issue will prove difficult, but not impossible. Hair loss prevention is Andy's best bet going forward.

Stan Wawrinka

Roger's fellow Swiss player, Stan Wawrinka, doesn't appear to be experiencing any real hair loss. Now in his late 30s, 'Stan the man' still has thick looking locks, and a strong hairline. It would be a big surprise if he still didn't have hair when he enters his middle age years.
