How To Prevent Seasonal Hair Loss in Autumn Season

Since I can remember, I have experienced hair shedding during early autumn season, usually from September to early October. The hair loss during this period can be quite severe, and sometimes the hair doesn't fully recover, leaving my scalp looking patchier every year.

Why is this happening to me, and is there a way to reduce/stop excessive hair shedding? 

Answer:

You are experiencing seasonal hair loss. This is very common, in fact, the vast majority of men and women experience a bout of seasonal hair loss at some point in the year. Autumn is the most common time of year that people go through seasonal hair loss. 

During late summer and autumn, telogen phases are more frequent, which results in more hair falling out. The reason for this increase can be traced back to intensive sun radiation during summer. As a protection mechanism for the scalp, more hair roots switch from the growth phase to the resting phase. his is why most people experience excessive hair shedding during the end of the summer, and beginning of autumn. 

For most people, seasonal hair loss is minimal, and unnoticeable, but for some people it can be quite severe.  Fortunately, seasonal hair loss is only a temporary hair shedding phase, but for some people it can develop into a long term problem. This is why it is crucial to tackle the issue with the right treatment plan.

How long does seasonal hair loss last? 


Seasonal hair shedding generally lasts 2-3 months, but this timescale can vary from person to person. The excessive shedding usually begins at the end of summer, heightens in autumn, and then stops as winter approaches. During wintertime, Telogen levels are the lowest as normal growth begins again.

How to stop seasonal hair loss


Seasonal hair loss cannot be stopped completely, but it can be significantly reduced, and long term hair loss can be countered effectively with the right treatment plan.

During changes in season, dietary supplements containing B vitamins, sulfur amino acids, zinc, iron and selenium can be an effective complementary treatment against seasonal hair loss.  Multivitamin hair supplements like HR23+ can help reduce hair shedding, and support the function of healthy hair growth in men and women.
